HEDNESFORD Town will be aiming for a fifth straight win as they eye top spot in the Northern Premier League.
The Pitmen produced a 3-0 win over Bamber Bridge on Tuesday night – with goals from Ollie Harrison, Dan Turner and Akheem Rose in wet conditions at Keys Park in front of 1,236 fans.
Now Hednesford host Cleethorpe Town on Saturday, after moving to within a point of league leaders Warrington Rylands. Another victory could put them top of the pile.
But Pitmen boss Gavin Hurren knows there is still plenty of work to do if the eventual aim of promotion is to be achieved.
All he is chasing on Saturday is another win to keep Hednesford’s run going.
He told the club’s YouTube channel: “We’ve got to remember, it’s not going to go all our own way, and we will lose games of football.
“But at the moment, we’ve won four on the spin, and we’ve been exceptional over the last 10 matches in points returned and goals scored.
So, for me, my staff, and obviously, the football club, we’re really happy with where we are, but there’s a long way to go. and we’ve got to keep that hammer down.
“The players apply themselves unbelievably. And it’s just important that each time we cross that white line, they wear the shirt and put in performances like we’re seeing now.
“We’ll look at Cleethorpe, their strengths and weaknesses, and where we can exploit that.
“But it’s all about us, isn’t it? We just looked frightening on Tuesday. Our substitutions made a positive impact, which they’re doing every single week.
“It doesn’t matter who it is. We’ve got a fantastic squad, and all we ask is that when you get your opportunities, you go on and take them. Every single player lit it up.”
