HEDNESFORD TOWN boss Gavin Hurren declared Saturday’s win at Ilkeston Town as ‘the best performance of the season’.
The Pitmen won 3-0 with goals from Niall Watson, Max Sheaf and Akheem Rose.
It was a victory that kept Hednesford top of the Northern Premier League, three points ahead of Hebburn Town.
Hurren told the club’s official YouTube channel: “Everything we’ve been working on, it all clicked.
“Credit to the lads, it was our best performance of the season.
“I was a happy manager after that.
“Niall was exceptional from minute one. He’s come back into the side and hit the ground running.
“He had an awareness to see the keeper off his line and it was a special goal. Max Sheaf was another outstanding player, but, to a man, we were brilliant.
“The first shot the opposition had was maybe in the 70th minute. Every player that came on did what we wanted. We sent our fans home happy, but it was another clean sheet and we’re still top of the league.
“And hopefully we’ll have players back in January which should set us up for the run-in.”
Rushall Olympic are in the relegation zone after losing out to a stoppage-time goal against Warrington Town.
Goals from Carter Lycett and McKeal Abdullah looked to have earned Pics a 2-2 draw.
But Reece Daly scored with 93 minutes on the clock to leave Rushall deflated.
Pics boss Ian Long told the club’s official YouTube channel: “It was the same old story, unfortunately, we didn’t take our chances.
“There was a nervous feeling there. But we had enough chances to win the game.
“We were a bit sloppy in the second half in terms of our passing. But the bottom line is we’ve lost again – and I take responsibility for the third goal with the late substitutions
