DAN Turner has been described as a player with a ‘connection’ to Hednesford Town – after making his return to Keys Park.
Turner, 26, has played for the Pitmen before, and has since gained valuable experience at higher levels of the game – including at Chester and Leamington in Step 2, as well as in the EFL with Port Vale.
He is a quick, direct and intelligent attacker and Hednesford boss Gavin Hurren says the club beat teams at a higher level to sign the player.
Hurren told the club’s official website: “Dan comes to us with serious pedigree and has played well above the level we’re at now.
“I’ve always been a big admirer – he’s clever, quick, and can score goals from across the front line.
“He had a fantastic time at both Chester and Leamington, and he’s joining us after a strong season in Step 2. He knows the club, he’s a local lad, and he wants to be here – we’ve had to fight off competition from higher up to get him.
“He’s got great character and a real connection to this place. I believe he’s going to be a fan favourite and I’m really looking forward to working with him.”
Dan started his career at Port Vale, making over 30 senior appearances in League Two, and has since developed into a proven non-league striker – scoring goals across multiple clubs and developing into a reliable attacking threat at National League North level.
Turner said: “It means a lot to be coming back to Hednesford. I’ve got a lot of respect for the club and what it stands for, and it’s great to be joining at a time when there’s so much ambition and energy around the place.
“Being from just up the road in Stone, I know how much this club means to people locally – and I want to use my experience to help the team push on and make this season a big one.”
