KIDDERMINSTER Harriers boss Phil Brown insists the title race is far from over as they ‘hunt down’ leaders Scunthorpe United.
Harriers collected another National League North victory with a 3-0 win over Peterborough Sports at Aggborough.
Tope Obadeyi opened the scoring after 16 minutes – with second-half goals from Zak Brown, his first in 19 games, settling the points.
Brown said he felt like his side were ‘on autopilot’ in the second half and that some ‘legginess’ might be creeping in at the end of a long season.
But the Harriers manager says it is not a case of treading water between now and the end of the season.
He does not accept that Kidderminster are destined for the play-offs – he says there can be more if Scunthorpe slip-up with Harriers just two points behind.
Brown told the club’s official YouTube channel: “We’ve got five games to go, 15 points still to play for, and we’re hunting down a team that’s in a good vein of form, there’s no doubt about it – and a very good team at that.
“That’s our job.That’s what we’ll do.
“We’re going to be playing teams at the top end – that’s nature of the beast.
“But there’s still a lot of football to be played. Regardless of what people say, with five to go in a 46-game series, you might think there’s not too much.
“There is. There’s plenty of football, plenty of twists and turns.

“I don’t think it’s over by any stretch of the imagination. A lot of people may think Scunthorpe are going to win it and we’re in the playoffs.
“I don’t subscribe to that. I think there’s going to be one or two twists and turns, and hopefully we’ll be there to pick up any kind of ‘hospitality’ from Scunthorpe.”
Brown admitted Saturday’s win was routine stuff.
He added: “We came intto the game fully prepared. But maybe it was a leggy performance. You could see that after probably five or six weeks of Saturday, Tuesdays – and not changing too much of the team.
“Is that going to affect us down the line? Sometimes it does. And sometimes it’s, it’s a case of sticking the car in autopilot and it drives itself.
“I think that’s what happened more or less, in the second half. At halftime, was I predicting a 3-0 win? I probably wasn’t. Maybe more of a 1-0.”
