KIDDERMINSTER boss Phil Brown says there is a new ‘calmness’ about his side after the turmoil of two weeks ago.
Harriers strengthened their play-off push with a 3-0 win over Scarborough Athletic at Aggborough.
An opening goal from Ashley Hemmings, three minutes before the break, was followed by second half strikes from Amarii Morgan-Smith and Maziar Kouhyar.
It leaves Kidderminster still in among the play-off chasing pack, and seven points off leaders Brackley.
But that is in stark contrast to last month when Brown accused his players of trying to get him sacked following a 3-1 home defeat by Spennymoor.
The manager brought his players in the next day to deliver some home truths – and the result has been to re-ignite a play-off bid that looked like fizzling out.
But he says the recent new signings have made a huge difference to a side that has now won three games in a row.
Brown told the club’s official YouTube channel: “This is the world we live in. You live and die by performances, and you live and die by honesty.
“But there’s a level of calm, I think about us at the moment, and a level of belief, and you could say it’s born out of two new signings.
“I don’t think it’s just due to two new signings by any stretch of the imagination, but whatever they have brought to the camp is spreading like welfare, and everybody’s starting believe to believe in what we can do.
“What we’ve done in the last three games is won a game of football. But the clean sheet mentality, putting them, putting their heads in, where it hurts when balls are coming into our penalty box, defending it properly, stopping balls from coming into our penalty box, all of these things help.
“But the reason behind any kind of success, is the system that we’re playing – it’s very conducive to the players that are playing in it.
“The round pegs in round holes, if you like. But clean sheet, the clean sheet, the clean sheet mentality, has given me the most pleasure. The one thing I’ve got to say about us at the moment is we’re 11 forwards, 11 back. You know, 11 are attacking when we’ve got the ball, and 11 are defending when we haven’t got it.
“So the work rate of the front three, first and foremost, is the reason why they probably scored their goals, for sure, but the reason why we’re getting a clean sheet as well, you know, they’re protecting anything opposition strikers.”
