MATT Taylor said he could accept defeat – but accused Moors’ players of lacking fight after their brief revival came to a juddering halt.
Yeovil Town left Damson Park with all three points after seeing out a comfortable 3-0 victory, bringing the hosts’ three-game unbeaten run to a definitive end.
The Moors boss was unhappy about three areas in particular.
He said: “If I take the football out of it, we didn’t fight hard enough, run hard enough or compete hard enough.
“I don’t want to make excuses and we got exactly what we deserved – nothing.
“I didn’t see it coming. It came off the back of three undefeated.
“And I can take mistakes…misplacing passes but we have to fight and we didn’t do that.
“It’s nowhere near good enough – and I’ll accept the criticism that comes my way.
“It’s part and parcel of the job to do. You have to stand here and take it.
“That’s my job. However, I totally understand the supporters’ frustrations.
“All fans want to see is their team giving everything they’ve got. We didn’t threaten enough. We worked on a game plan that didn’t come to fruitition.”
After a reasonable opening, the Glovers took the lead in the 28th minute when Josh Sims drove into the area with the ball – and then found a drive to match.
But the killer goal arrived five minutes after the interval when Ciaran McGuckin added a second.
Seven minutes later, Alex Whittle volleyed a superb third and the visitors had enough to see out the game and take the points back to south Somerset.
The Moors have the chance to put it right on Tuesday, albeit against Altrincham – at a venue and against opponents where they have struggled in the past.
Taylor added: “The only positive is that we have a chance to put it right quickly.
“I’m going to have to pick a team that’s going to go out and fight.
“No one gives you anything in life or football – and that’s what we’re going to have to do when we go to Altrincham.”
