SOLIHULL Moors have named former Wolves No2 Terry Connor as the first team Assistant Coach.

Connor joined the coaching staff at Molineux in 1999 where he became an integral part of Mick McCarthy’s backroom team.

His partnership with McCarthy continued at both Ipswich Town and with the Republic of Ireland side before the pair worked together at Cardiff City and Blackpool.

Connor is also national coach of the Grenada team and will combine that role with assisting Moors boss Matt Taylor.

Taylor told Moors’ official website: “Terry is one of the most respected and experienced coaches in the game and it’s fantastic to have him here.

“He has a proven track record in developing players, demanding the best from the people around him, and it’s a huge compliment to the club that someone so well regarded at all levels wants to play a part in what we aim to build here.”

After a distinguished playing career where he made over 400 senior appearances including spells at Leeds United and Portsmouth, Connor switched his attention to coaching.

Moors chairman Darryl Eales added: “After last season’s disappointing campaign and, especially our run of injuries, we talked a lot about the balance of the first team staff and when we knew Terry was available, it was obvious to all of us that he was top of our list.

“He still has such energy and passion for the game, he is very highly qualified, and it’s an exciting appointment that I think, alongside our player signings this summer, really indicates our intentions for the season ahead.”
