JERRY Gill has been appointed to Matt Taylor’s backroom team at Solihull Moors.

The 54-year-old returns to the area where he became a fans’ favourite with Birmingham City over two decades ago.

Gill has spent seven years with Bath City, guiding them into the play-offs in National League South, but he was unable to take the final step with the Romans.

However, he joins up with the Moors, as they bid to keep themselves out of danger in the National League following a troubling run of results.

Gill said: “First and foremost, I’d like to thank Darryl Eales and Stephen Ward for inviting me in to help the football club out alongside Matt Taylor, the staff and the players.”

“I’m looking forward to it, it’s an area I know really well having lived in the area for over ten years when I was previously at Birmingham City and my two boys still live in Hockley Heath!”

Director of Football, Stephen Ward, added: “We are very pleased to add Jerry to our coaching staff until the end of the season.

“He arrives with a huge amount of experience from his coaching and managerial background and is someone who knows the National League very well.”

“We are excited to work alongside him and everyone welcomes him to Moors.”
