SOLIHULL Moors boss Matt Taylor described his side’s 5-1 defeat at home to Aldershot as ’embarrassing’.
Ryan Hill scored twice as Aldershot registered their first National League win of the season in style.
Solihull defender Tyler French’s shot struck the crossbar before the Shots scored twice in four minutes to take control before half-time.
Hill cut inside the box and fired into the bottom corner and Abrahams’ neat finish made it 2-0 following a swift counter-attack.
Solihull reduced the deficit through Szhem Whyte-Hall soon after the restart.
But Hill converted his second from the penalty spot and Kwame Thomas forced home the Shots’ fourth after Abrahams’ effort had struck the crossbar, before Jed Meerholz added a fifth in the 87th minute.
It was a performance that angered Taylor, especially as Moors had made an unbeaten start to the season – and he demanded an improvement in Monday’s game at Altrincham.
The Moors manager told the club’s X account: “I’ve got to start off by apologising to supporters for the result.
“The players didn’t fight, battle, they didn’t do all the things that they’ve been really good at. So that’s obviously a concern. I didn’t see it coming.
“We didn’t match their effort, and I changed the shape at half-time.
“It’s easy as a manager to come out and blame the referee, it takes pressure off you. I’m not going to do that.. He’s given a penalty, and in that moment, there goes the game.
“You saw the difference between the two teams. Ultimately, the only positive is that they’ve got to go again on Monday.
“The players understand that that’s unacceptable – that performance. I’ve told them that’s nowhere near the level. Regardless of the opposition, every single goal that we can see here is avoidable.
“The one thing that they have done up to this point is they fought for each other, but 5-1 at home is embarrassing.”
