PAUL Davis said Stratford Town’s form in front of goal was ‘a concern’ after lowly Hitchin took home a point from the Arden Garages Stadium.
Finn Brennan’s goal direct from a corner four minutes after the interval should have set up the Bards for a second-half revival.
But they were found wanting where it mattered.
The Canaries had taken full advantage of a lacklustre opening and Daniel Stokoe’s 20th-minute penalty gave them the lead.
But for some more sloppy finishing from Hitchen’s goalscorer, it could have been a lot worse.
Although matters improved after the interval, boss Paul Davis was unhappy at the final whistle.
He said: “For the first 25 minutes, we were as bad as we’ve been.
“The players have been the same for a period of time. The second-half of the first-half, we’ve created a couple of chances.
“We thought we’d scored with one that went over the line. But basically, we weren’t good enough.
“We worked on the corner, it was pleasing it worked. In reality, you can only create chances, you then need to find the net.
“We can work those ways of getting balls into the box but players need to score. If you look at the last three games, we’ve probably had ten clear-cut chances at Bishop’s Stortford, on Tuesday we scored two worldies and a set-piece.
“It is a concern.”
