TIM Flowers struggled to keep his emotions in check after a last-gasp penalty sparked a sending-off and ruined an afternoon of hard work against Southern Premier Central leaders Bedford.
‘Church’s boss kept an even temper after the final whistle after a late Krystian Pearce challenge on Lewis Green was adjudged to be a foul inside the area.
Visiting goalkeeping coach Neil Reeves was dismissed during the fracas that followed and Leon Lobjoit earned a precious victory for the hosts as he delighted the Eyrie by finishing from the spot to land a 1-0 victory.
Flowers said: “Football is a horrible game sometimes, it does that to you.
“At the moment, it seems like every decision is going against us. We have to be big enough to take it.
“We started slowly. They’re obviously a counter-attack side. Never really looked in any trouble. From there on it, looked fairly comfortable.
“We’ve had a couple of goals chalked off.
“Be interesting to see them – then to be done by a penalty when the board’s gone up for seven minutes, it’s galling.
“If it drops your way it’s fantastic. It’s not long since we got a goal late on against Barwell.
“We’ve been done off a long throw and didn’t pick up the second phase.
“Halesowen, Bedford, Kettering – we’re acquitting ourselves okay.
“We deserved a point out of the game. We didn’t get it. We have to move on.”
