PAUL Davis surveyed the wreckage of a first-half horror show, saying: “We’ll win nothing defending like that.”
The Bards’ chief was dismayed at as a collapse in the opening 45 minutes cost his side dear at upwardly-mobile Harborough Town.
Three goals adrift, the visitors did reduce the arrears through Callum Ebanks’ first goal since December but it was too little too late as the hosts ran out 3-1 winners.
Davis said: “I find myself scratching my head. We’ve been so good defensively but we have conceded five goals in two games and you’re not going to win too many when you do that.
“The first one wasn’t good at all; the second was really bad and then, right on half-time, we play a square pass that gets cut out…we almost stop and we’re three down.
“You’re never going to win anything when you’re three down at half-time.
“After that, Harborough sat off, just wanted to keep a clean sheet. All in all, not a great day.
“Ultimately, we didn’t deserve it.”
The Bards face struggling Biggleswade at the Arden Garages Statium next week and said that he will need to freshen up matters ahead of next Saturday.
He added: “I thought Callum did quite well, he took his goal well. Hopefully, with seven games left, he can go on a bit of a run now.
“We need to do something different. We’re in a slump and we need to do something about it. Myself and the staff are looking at that. It’s got to be all about us this week.”
