ALVECHURCH boss Tim Flowers said Jose Marquez was a ‘fox in the box’ after the player’s ‘perfect’ hat-trick for Alvechurch as they knocked out National League North side Leamington.
Flowers’ side won 3-0 to book their place in the FA Cup Third Qualifying Round.
Marquez, on loan from Forest Green, netted three goals in 10 minutes late on to seal the tie.
Leamington missed a penalty late on to complete a miserable afternoon for Paul Holleran’s team.
Flowers told Alvechurch’s official YouTube channel: “Jose is a fox in the box style of player – Johnny on the Spot.
“It’s the perfect hat-trick, a header, right foot, left foot.
“He’s a brilliant kid. He’s really enjoying it here, which is nice, he’s got a squad of around about his age, and there’s a little bit of camaraderie in there right now.
“They’re in a good place.
“Then we had Redman Evans at the other end, he saves the penalty, but take that out of it. He’s commanded his area and making good decisions.
“But in thought the second half, we showed some real quality.”
Flowers admitting that his side did not have it all their own way.
He added: “We found ourselves on the ropes, we were struggling and on the back of foot.
‘Fortunately, at half-time, we managed to have a chat. and a bit of a conference meeting It was quite clear what we had to do.”
