CHASETOWN maintained their Northern Premier League play-off push with a dramatic last winner at Atherton Collieries.

Joey Butlin gave Scholars the lead in first half stoppage time – but Joe Piggott levelled just after the hour.

It looked like Chasetown would have to settle for a point – until Max Chimenes came up with a winner in the last minute.

That made sure of a vital result for the Mark Swann’s side who are fourth in the table, two points behind Hednesford.

You can see the match action below.

Hednesford continued their promotion thanks to Nathan Blissett’s goal just before the break against Congleton at Keys Park.

The only goal of the game came when Dan Trickett-Smith’s corner was headed home by Blissett.

But it was also a fifth clean sheet in a row for the Pitmen who are in third spot, nine points behind leaders Widnes.

Hednesford boss Gav Hurren told the club’s official YouTube channel: “I thought we were totally in control from the minute one.

“The lads stuck to their game plan. They made it frustrating. They clearly came for a point.

“We got the goal that we deserved before half time and the second half, it was, for me, a real professional performance.

“Another clean sheet is a platform to to win things. And I feel if you keep those clean sheets, you’re never going to lose a game football. But yes, it’s five on the spin, which is outstanding.

“It’s like eight in 11, or like that. So it’s a credit to these boys.”
