HEDNESFORD Town boss Gavin Hurren says Saturday’s win against Gainsborough Trinity maintained the Keys Park ‘feelgood factor’.
Two goals inside the first 18 minutes from in-form Ahkeem Rose was enough to seal the points in front of a crowd of just under 1,400.
The Pitmen are now just two points off top spot in the Northern Premier League ahead of a break for Saturday’s FA Cup tie with Billericay.
Hurren told the club’s official YouTube channel: “I think the first half was absolutely outstanding. Everything we worked on – we just blew them away.
“They couldn’t live with us. Everything was just feeling good coming to the ground. But we had to dig in deep, the lads had to stand strong.
“Ahkeem’s on absolute flames, but the whole team are flying.”
But Hurren rejected any suggestion that his team took their foot off the gas in the second half .
The Pitmen boss added: “I feel once you’ve worked so hard and you get yourself a lead, you can be ‘okay, you try and break us down, you try and come out and get three goals to win’.
“But they didn’t even get one. So, you can say take the foot off the gas, but you can’t be consistently like that for 95 minutes. We knew they were going to have a reaction, which any team would going in at half-time at 2-0 down.”
