HEDNESFORD Town have handed new, long-term, contracts to their management team after winning promotion to the Northern Premier League.
Manager Gavin Hurren, Assistant Manager Lee Vaughan, and First Team Coach Ryan Conneely have all committed to the Pitmen for three years.
A statement issued by Hednesford today (Tuesday) says the move “reflects our full confidence in their ability to lead the club forward, following the incredible turnaround we’ve seen since Gavin’s appointment in November 2024.”
The club added: “Our resurgence last season was one to remember – a play-off victory, a win rate of nearly 69 per cent, 56 goals scored and only 19 conceded.
“We broke a 46-year club record with six consecutive clean sheets and welcomed a record home crowd of 4,701 at Keys Park. The belief, momentum, and passion shown by everyone – on the pitch and in the stands – has been outstanding.”
Hurren left Stratford Town to take over from Steve King in November – and the Pitmen climbed the Northern Premier League West Division to finish second and win the play-off final against Congleton Town.
Pitmen Chairman, Craig Gwilt, said: “Since Gavin and his team arrived, there has been a noticeable shift in team spirit and togetherness.
“Results speak for themselves, but so does the atmosphere around the club. They’ve brought the players, supporters, and staff back together with a clear plan and a real sense of purpose. Securing them on a long-term basis was an easy decision, and one that reflects our shared vision for where this club is heading.”
Hurren added: “I’m immensely proud to continue this journey with Hednesford Town – a club I’ve always seen as historically one of the biggest in non-league football.
“From the moment I arrived, the welcome has been incredible. The values, culture, and passion that run through every part of the club means everything to me – from the supporters to the volunteers, the Board, and everyone behind the scenes.
“There’s a real sense of pride, tradition, and togetherness here, and it’s a privilege to be part of that.
