KIDDERMINSTER Harriers boss Adam Murray says the club has still not got over failing to win promotion to the National League last season.
And he says the disappointment of falling at the final hurdle in May is hanging over the club.
Murray warned there would be ‘an implosion’ if it continues – as there is a ‘horrible battle’ going on.
After seeing his side lose 5-1 at home to Radcliffe, Murray gave a concerning view of the state of the club.
He told the Harriers’ official YouTube channel: “We felt it in the warm up, the atmosphere.
“I understand where the supporters’ heads are at as well, so I can’t get I’m not angry with them for giving me stick. I understand it. One of the subs said after five minutes ‘it’s like a morgue’.
“We all have to understand it. We’re not giving them something to shout about, which is right.
“So then the other emotion comes out. There’s so much anger and frustration still in this football club from the final day of last season. It’s carried on. I don’t care what anybody tells me. And it’s affecting everybody.
“And if we don’t come together as a football club – I’ll be brutal – this will implode this season.
“You can change the manager, you can change the players, it’ll be the same outcome, because there’s a horrible battle going on at the minute and it can’t be like that.
“If people don’t want me, I’ll walk away. This football club is in a certain situation, and it’s only together that you’re going to get out of it. That’s the honesty of it.
“There’s an emotion around the ground, and as soon as something doesn’t go right, you feel it’s just waiting to come out and explode.
“So’ve got to pull through that moment because it’s not going anywhere. It’s not going to change, until we actually start pulling in the same direction.”
Kidderminster conceded from four corners which frustrated Murray.
Kurt Willoughby pulled one back for Harriers in the first half – but Emeka Obi received a second yellow card for a high boot as he attempted an overhead kick on the hour.
Murray added: “Like the boys said to me, we need one win and everything changes, but we have to get that.
“We have to find that. that platform to build from. And we can only do that as a football club. We can’t do it as 24 men – you feel like you’re fighting in the world. And we’ve got to break that.”
