PHIL Brown changed his tune following Kidderminster Harriers two-goal triumph over Kings Lynn Town.
Harriers’ boss was beside himself with frustration and anger as he pointed the finger of blame everywhere – including inside his own dressing room – following a 3-1 home defeat by Spennymoor.
But, thanks to a goal on his return debut by Kyle Morrison and an encouraging show from loanee Dave Worrall, Harriers ran out comfortable 2-0 winners over the Linnets.
Brown said: “From Saturday to Tuesday, there were two simple reasons that the performance was of the ilk it was.
“The signing of Kyle Morrison and Dave Worrall. I think they are proper players. I’m not disrespecting anyone who has played for Kidderminster Harriers.
‘They know what it takes to win a game of football at this level. They have set a standard.
“I’ve played with players who wanted to put their head in for the cause and it became a good day at the office.
“I wanted to get the clean sheet mentality.
‘We needed to steer the ship back on course and this did a long way towards doing that.’
A late Henry Landers’ goal earned Leamington a point on their travels as they headed home from Suffolk with a point following a 1-1 draw with Needham Market.
The game was goalless going into the final quarter but Reggie Lambe’s opportunistic strike had put the hosts in front.
However, Henry Landers maintained his good form by pouncing on a weak defensive header to crash home the equaliser with seven minutes left.
Manager Paul Holleran said: “I think the performance deserved more. But it’s like a winning draw for us.
“Psychologically, coming down here and coming back from behind.
“Everyone would have left the ground looking at how hard-working and structured our performance was – that’s what you’ve got to do sometimes in this league on a Tuesday night.
“We’ve done that on the last few Tuesdays. I thought we deserved a clean sheet for our efforts.
“It was one night when I was desperate for the players to get something so I was really pleased that they did.
“It was thoroughly deserved. There were some big performances. They needed to bounce back from Saturday and put in a proper Leamington performance which I think they did.”
There were six different goalscorers as high-riding Brackley Town sent Rushall Olympic to the bottom of the National League North.
It all looked to be going according to plan for Richard Sneekes’s side as they took an early lead thanks to Austin Samuels’s rocket from the edge of the area with just ten minutes’ gone.
But the Saints had levelled within seven minutes through Matt Lowe and had raced into a 3-1 lead by the interval with Scott Pollock and Connor Hall getting on the scoresheet.
A Shane Byrne penalty made it four after the re-start and late efforts from Miracle Okafor and Tyler Lyttle meant that the Pics now occupy bottom place as their goal difference is inferior to Farsley Celtic.
