KIDDERMINSTER Harriers boss Adam Murray described Tuesday’s win at King’s Lynn as the ‘perfect’ away performance.
A 26th-minute goal from Emeka Obi – his first for Harriers – was enough to secure the points, and lift Murray’s side to fourth in the National League North table.
Joe Foulkes’ delivery was met by a Seb Thompson header.
It looked to be going in but Obi made sure the ball crossed the line.
Harriers then defended strongly to keep King’s Lynn out.
Murray told the club’s official YouTube channel: “ It was a big result. I’ve got to give credit to work to the players, because, in all my years of football, playing and coaching, I’ve never come across an opposition that plays that way.
“I have to give credit to their manager and the way he set it up, because it is it’s an awful lot of risk, but it’s so expansive.
“We do a lot of work on set plays for and against, but we need to be better at attacking set pieces. We’ve got great delivery. We’ve got a lot of height at times – and we were big here, and we knew that if we could get the delivery right, there’d be an opportunity to score.
“So, I’m buzzing for the boys and I said to them, I was so proud of them, because sometimes as a coach and as a manager, things are out of your hands. There’s that much going on, on the pitch, that you can’t coach.
“You have to hand it over to the players to take the baton and then pull you through as a coach. and they did that. We had that many different problems that we had to solve. Everybody played their part. It was a perfect away win.”
Leamington continued their winning run after coming back to beat Southport at the Co-op Community Stadium.
Arthur Gnahoua put Southport ahead three minutes into the second half.
But goals from Anthony Lynn and a spectacular overhead kick from Ewan Williams saw Paul Holleran’s side home.
