MANAGERLESS Solihull Moors collected their first National League win of the season.
Just three days after Matt Taylor was sacked as Moors boss, the team that not managed to take three points from a game all season, won 2-1 at Boston United.
With James Quinn in interim charge, Moors lifted themselves off the bottom of the table.
New face Jacob Wakeling’s double gave them a crucial victory in Lincolnshire.
Wakeling, who completed a permanent move from Peterborough this week, struck after a quarter of an hour when he sprinted into the area and rifled beyond Rhys Lovett with a shot which went in off the crossbar.
Oscar Rutherford forced a fine save from Lovett shortly before Boston equalised two minutes before the interval – as excellent link-up play led to Jordy Hiwula firing home.
But Wakeling had the final say 12 minutes from time with another driving run and finish to give Solihull an overdue win.
Moors had lost their previous four games after starting the season with three draws – a run which cost Taylor his job.
Solihull will now host Morecambe next Saturday as they look to keep their revival going.
