SATURDAY night is a big one for the team in more ways than one.
We return to our home court for the first time in weeks when Essex Rebels are the visitors.
It should be a huge game as the club have made it a family night – which is being supported by one of our sponsors, the Royal Navy.
But we also have the chance to make it three league wins in a row – a milestone that is something I can’t remember us doing at this level.
Our latest victory came at Bristol Hurricanes last Saturday. We said beforehand that we want to improve on our away form if we want to do things this season.
And that’s what we did with an 86-79 win. After missing out on the playoffs last season, we have made a big improvement and our targets for this campaign have changed.
We know we have to make the playoffs this time and, currently, we’re ninth in the table. But things are coming together now and we know we can progress.

Week on week, we’re getting better and everyone’s buying into what we need to do as a team. We’re doing the right things on and off the court.
It’s only a matter of time as we piece it together and we get it right more than we get it wrong. Bristol was another week where we just got it right.
They came at us with a great game plan. They sat in a zone, which kind of stifled us a little bit. They slowed us down and we couldn’t get out running like we normally do.
But we battled and came through at the end with the win.

I think the core guys that we kept last year, they know what the coach likes and they know what is expected of them. We’re a very young team. So I think the maturity in the squad helps a lot when players get older.
Things outside of basketball change them, they get more mature and more sensible with the decisions that they make.
I’m a man who always says: ‘How you do anything is how you do everything’. So I feel I feel when the maturity happens off the court, it happens on the court as well.
Now we have the chance to play in front of our home fans again – and they’re always like a sixth man for us.

They’re amazing and we love playing at home. We love the atmosphere that they bring. Everything about it is amazing.
Essex have some dangerous players, such as Kyron Martin. He’s a great shooter who’s been playing really well this season. So we’ve got a gameplay in mind for him.
We’re prepared for them and will come out ready, understanding what we need to be doing as a team, just like always and trying to come out with another win.
