CITY of Birmingham Rockets’ BCB Trophy win has been described as a ‘watershed moment’ for the club and the region.
Rockets etched their name into the history books, after a thrilling 85-66 victory over Yorkshire Dragons at the Harvey Hadden Sports Village in Nottingham last Saturday.
The inaugural triumph marks a historic milestone for the region, representing the first piece of major professional basketball silverware to return to the city since the legendary Birmingham Bullets clinched the BBL Playoff Championship in 1998.

As the spiritual successor to the city’s rich basketball heritage, Rockets say they are dedicated to restoring Birmingham to the summit of the sport in Britain, while providing a high-performance pathway for local talent.
But Rockets add that the significance of this win cannot be overstated.
For 28 years, the 1998 Bullets championship stood as the high watermark for the local game.
By winning the BCB Trophy, the Rockets say they have not only honoured that past, but also established a new standard for the next generation of players and supporters.
Supporters are now invited to lift the trophy and take photos at the club’s next home game on Sunday (April 5) as Rockets host Worthing Thunder in the British Championship Basketball League.
