HALESOWEN TOWN boss Russ Penn praised a strong performance at The Grove on Tuesday as the Yeltz moved within sight of the play-off places.

Milan Butterfield’s 51st minute goal proved enough to beat a improving Stratford Town side.

Penn told the club’s official website: “I thought we were excellent.

“We saw a Stratford side who were much improved from the team we saw against us at the start of the month, and I think they’ll build a good run. So we played them at the right time.”

Alvechurch maintained their excellent run – despite having to settle for a 0-0 draw at Worcester City.

Tim Flowers’ side team are in third spot – four points behind leaders Harborough Town.

But Bromsgrove Sporting could not build on back-to-back wins as they went down to play-off challengers Quorn.

Gustavo Sanches put Sporting ahead after 21 minutes – but the Leicestershire side recovered after the break.

Finn O’Boyle levelled the scores six minutes into the second half – and ex-EFL striker Billy Kee scored the winner after 84 minutes.

Sporting are still two points above the relegation zone – on the same points as Stourbridge.
