TAMWORTH boss Andy Peaks admitted to a day of pure frustration as his side lost out to National League leaders Rochdale.
Jimmy McNulty’s side had stumbled slightly following their strong start to the season, but they made it back-to-back wins on Saturday lunchtime at The Lamb.
Kyron Gordon scrappily put ‘Dale ahead in the 41st minute, with Emmanuel Dieseruvwe striking from the spot in the 71st minute to give them breathing space.
Sub Dan Creaney pulled one back for Tamworth three minutes later but the Lambs were unable to find a leveller.
The game left Peaks wondering what might have been from a performance that could have earned them a late point.
Peaks told the club’s YouTube channel: “It was frustrating, but we were in the game for long periods.
“We weren’t good enough when we got the ball back.
“And we had opportunities to score goals but we didn’t take them
“It was almost like a missed opportunity, we could’ve been better in the attacking third than we were.
“We wanted to stay in the game and keep our shape.
“But we nicked the ball maybe 30 times in the first half, but didn’t really ask any questions.”
Peaks was not convinced by ref Sam Bragg’s decision to award a spot-kick when Callum Cockerill-Mollett pulled down Dieseruvwe.
The Lambs manager added: “I’m disappointed with the penalty decision, it was key at the time, sometimes they’re given, sometimes not.
“But we didn’t get the rub of the green. I felt some of the stuff that went on was a little bit unfair.
“We had five minutes added on at the end here, but last week, when we were leading, it was 11.
“A few more minutes, we might have got something, but that’s just me clutching.
“But we can hold our heads held high.
“Creaney came on, scored and he might have had another.
“He played his part as did the others that came on, there were some good performances against a side as good as that.”
