TAMWORTH boss Andy Peaks fears rivals are starting to ‘work us out’ in their second season back in the National League.
The Lambs went down 1-0 at home to Woking on Saturday – with Peaks unhappy with a display he described as ‘very disappointing’.
Woking extended their unbeaten run to six league games when Ollie Sanderson’s 32nd minute goal was enough to seal victory.
Peaks now takes his side to promotion-chasing Forest Green on Tuesday night – and will be demanding a better display against Robbie Savage’s team.
But the Tamworth boss refused to blame the result on last Monday’s FA Cup tie with Leyton Orient which attracted live TV coverage and saw the Lambs lose 1-0.
Peaks told the club’s official YouTube channel: “It was very disappointing.
“We created nowhere near enough chances, and were nowhere near the standards I want us to be at.
“But we talked about it being ‘After the Lord Mayor’s Show’ from Monday. But that’s gone.
“And I was looking for reaction and it was about getting some points on the board as it was a home game, and we didn’t manage to do it.
“The Orient game can’t be used as an excuse. But we’re not as formidable at home at the moment as we were last year.
“I think teams have worked out a little bit, so we’ve got to find a way to start picking up some points.
“We’ve got some really tough games coming up. But this needs to be our fortress and at the moment, it’s not.
“And we were probably second in a lot of the stats on Saturday, which isn’t acceptable. I don’t remember their ‘keeper making many saves.
“There were some harsh words after, because it’s a long season and we’ve got to get back at it.
“We’re now going to play two teams that, for me, are very, very strong teams – in Forest Green and Boreham Wood.
“And we have to be a lot better. So it’s up to us as staff, as a group, as a team, to find some better ways.”
