ETHAN Freemantle earned high praise from Liam McDonald as the Glassboys’ upwards push continued.
A delighted Stourbridge boss singled out the forward for a few words after the visitors put lowly Biggleswade to the sword.
The striker scored two and assisted on another as the Glassboys made it three wins in succession following triumphs over Harborough Town and Hitchen with a 4-1 victory in Bedfordshire.
Asked about the blossoming relationship between Tyrone Barnett and Freemantle, McDonald replied: “ It’s flourishing. Ethan was the best player on the pitch today.
“We had a joke a few weeks ago. He was being heavily-criticised. I want to stick by him. He’s not had a fantastic season, goals-wise, but he’s been outstanding in the last month. The faith we’ve shown is paying dividends.
“He’s creative. I think he’s one of the best in the division. You’ll see Ethan Freemantle destroy defences single-handedly at times. If we can keep him in this form we have a great chance of winning games of football.”
After a sticky spell, Stourbridge are back among the pack chasing down those sides in the play-offs.
McDonald added: “We were excellent from start to finish. We worked hard on Thursday night, analysis-wise, and we were tremendous in how we pressed and denied the space.
“We watched Biggleswade on Tuesday night against Telford. They were outstanding. It shows where they’re at. They’re a good team. I’m super-pleased. We got what we came for.
“We’re in the top three in terms of our away form. We’ve got a rest now and then we have to prepare for the game against Kettering. The form we’re in has given us a great chance of winning that as well.”
