HALESOWEN Town boss Russ Penn admitted his side paid the price for missing ‘golden chances’ at Alvechurch on Tuesday.
Tim Flowers’ side continued their good form with another win – courtesy of Jose Marquez’s 43rd minute goal.
That was enough to seal the points as Alvechurch moved up to fourth place.
But Penn felt the Yeltz should have taken something from the game.
He told the club’s official website: “They had a good spell in the first 20, and we dealt with it well.
“We didn’t have many opportunities in the game, but the ones we had were golden chances.
“Their goal before half-time changed the game, even though we dominated stages of the second half the chances didn’t come.
“I thought we played well. We’re not on the points total we want, but our performances have improved since Worcester.”
Bromsgrove Sporting and Stratford Town both collected crucial wins on Tuesday.
Sporting beat Banbury United 3-0 goals from Tom Edge and
Gustavo Sanches before the break – and another from Jack Newell two minutes from time.
It was Bromsgrove’s second win of the season and put them in a good position to move out of the bottom four.
Rouslers manager Scott Adey-Linforth told the club’s official YouTube channel: “I was a great win, it’s been a difficult spell for me and the lads.
“It’s been tough, but here, we went back to basics and showed everything I knew they could do.
“They showed resilience and defended their goal with a passion. I’d been pulling my hair out as I knew they were capable of this. I’m so happy for them.”
But Stratford are now in 16th spot after their 4-1 win at home to Barwell.
The Bards owed their victory to Owen James’ first ever hat-trick.
He netted twice in the space of three first half minutes – and added a third from the penalty spot with 13 minutes to go.
Henry Landers scored on the hour mark after Barwell’s Charlie Dowd had pulled one back.
Bards boss Paul Davis told the club’s official YouTube channel: “That was probably the best 45 minutes we’ve had all season, we were excellent.
“Henry’s goal settled us down and I was pleased for OJ to get his hat-trick near the end. We stopped conceding massive goals but I can’t remember the last time we beat Barwell.”
