REDDITCH United boss Mike Fowler says Alex Cameron deserved to score two goals against his former club Halesowen on Tuesday.
Fowler felt his team were ‘a different animal’ in the second half of their derby clash at The Grove.
The game produced five goals – with Redditch netting three after the break.
Halesowen took the lead through Jason Cowley after 32 minutes – but Fabian Reynolds equalised six minutes into the second half.
Cameron put Redditch ahead five minutes later and he added a third with 17 minutes to go.
Cowley scored a second for Halesowen after 81 minutes, but they could not get back level.
Fowler told the club’s official You Tube channel: “I’m delighted for Alex.
“Two goals against a club that really didn’t give him the chance he deserved, because he’s unbelievable.
“I think that’s his eighth goal of the season in 10 games. But, you know, their loss is our gain.
“They say one man’s trash, is another man’s treasure, and I absolutely love him – he was desperate not to come off because he wanted a hat trick.”
Halesowen boss Russ Penn was frustrated by the result after a solid first half.
He told Radio Halesowen’s X account: “I’ve got a really question myself what I’ve said at half time.
“Because I thought we’d had a really good first half, especially the first 30 minutes.
“Then we just went off on our own little world in terms of how we defend our possession, – and our shape out of possession. It was frustrating.
“We were a constant threat going forward, but we were far too open. And we can’t play that. It’s car crash football. And it’s not how we mean to set up.”
Bromsgrove Sporting climbed the table with a 2-0 win over bottom-placed side Stamford.
Gustavo Sanches opened the scoring after 36 minutes and Brad Stretton sealed the points with five minutes to go.
Stratford Town collected another vital win at the DCS Stadium with a 1-0 victory over Worcester City.
Sub Cyrus Bruce came on to score the only goal of the game with 14 minutes left.
Bards manager Paul Davis told the club’s official YouTube channel: “Clean sheets are hard to come by, and it’s pleasing to see a few.
“That’s one defeat in nine for us, but I felt it’d be a one-goal game as we didn’t create as many chances as we did on Saturday.
“But we played some really good football which is what I want to see us carry on.”
Alvechurch’s recent good run came to an end at the hands of newly-promoted Quorn.
The Leicestershire side went ahead in the first minute through Zak Goodson before Frank Tattum equalised with his first goal for Alvechurch since his loan move from Birmingham City.
Luke Cox put Quorn back in front in the 53rd minute – with Kieran Wakefield levelling two minutes later.
But Simeon Cobourne struck twice in the space of four minutes to effectively win the game for Quorn – although Tope Obadeyi added a late third goal for Alvechurch.
Boss Tim Flowers told Alvechurch’s official YouTube channel: “Quorn were as a good a team who’ve been here so far.
“But we played into their hands for the opening goal. Straight away we were chasing the game, and we’d shown our first sign of weakness defensively.
“We left ourselves bare and never looked comfortable at the back.
“But you can’t score three goals at home and still get beaten.
“There was no throwing teacups around after, but we have to learn from this. We were good at the pretty side of the game, but not at the ugly side. We could have even nicked a 4-4 at the end, who knows how it stayed out.”
