TAMWORTH boss Andy Peaks admitted it was ‘two points lost’ after seeing his side draw to Brackley Town on Monday.
Peaks said he had to make changes after playing at Gateshead just two minutes earlier.
The Lambs took an early lead, but Peaks said he had to make do with a point.
Morgan Roberts fired a second-half equaliser as newly-promoted Brackley claimed a 1-1 draw.
The hosts looked set to recover well from Saturday’s loss in the North East as Harvey Sayer fired them into a ninth-minute lead.
Haydn Hollis came close to adding a second for the hosts, while at the other end, Tamworth goalkeeper Jas Singh was equal to a shot from Brackley’s Bailey Hodson.
Roberts hauled Brackley level after 62 minutes and the visitors had the better of the late chances, with Singh forced to make saves to deny Scott Pollock and Danny Waldron.
The result leaves The Lambs 17th in the National League on four points.
Peaks told the club’s X account: “My initial thoughts were ‘it’s a point on the board’. The performance levels I thought were really good. We knew it would be tough against Brackley.
“They’ve had some good results, including beating Rochdale, and have got a lot of good players, plus momentum from last season.
“I’m disappointed we didn’t get three points, it’s probably two dropped, but overall, quite pleased with the performance.
“At this time of the year, when you get two games so quick, you have to freshen up. We had a couple that had got knocks anyway.
“I think the changes freshened it up. We’re a different animal, at home anyway. I think the changes were justified.
“If you’d have said in the morning, we’re going to draw, I’d almost take that, because we’re not going to win every game at home – but I want to be competitive and I think everyone was putting the right shift in and working hard for me, their teammates in the club.”
