GARY Whild saluted the importance of Yeltz’s substitutes as Alex Cameron’s last-gasp winner earned them three points.

Halesowen Town’s well-travelled assistant boss said it was the strength of the replacements that tipped a tricky trip to bottom-placed Biggleswade Town in the visitors’ favour.

Halesowen had returned from fellow promotion hopefuls Kettering Town with a point from a goalless draw in midweek.

And this was going in the same direction as the clock ticked down towards the final whistle before Cameron rose to nod home the decider in the penultimate minute of normal time.

Whild said: “We knew it would be tough. If you look at Biggleswade’s results over the past month, they’ve been good.

“But we’ve seen the benefit of the substitutes today. It was great to look at the bench and see the likes of Reece Flanagan and Alex Cameron.

“In the end, that was the difference. It was a great bit of skill for the cross and a great header from Alex.”

The result leaves Yeltz in fifth place in the Southern Premier Central table but it puts them six points ahead of Stamford who are lying just outside the play-off spots.

But with just five points separating them and league leaders Bedford, it remains all to play for going into the final matches of the season.
