RUSHALL Olympic are refusing to leave the National League North division without a fight.
That was the message from Dales Lane as the Pics battled to a 1-0 victory over play-off chasers Hereford.
Seb Thompson’s volley 12 minutes from time was sufficient for the hosts to secure a morale-boosting victory.
And although the odds are stacked against them clawing themselves to safety during the last eight matches of the season, this haul leaves them five behind Oxford City who are the last team above the line.
They do have three games in hand over the Pics but, for now, it was unhappy Hereford boss Paul Caddis whose pre-match warning about the hosts’s survival fight went unheeded.
He said: “I’m frustrated…angry, it was really frustrating. Rushall are fighting for their lives.
“I thought we were okay. I’ve warned the players after Saturday and spoke to them again. It’s tought to play against teams fighting for their lives.
“We tried to change it after going one down. It’s a real disappointment.
“We’re happy to take the plaudits but the last three games haven’t been good enough. I’ll protect the players all day long but that wasn’t good enough.”
