RUSHALL Olympic have lost their appeal to be moved from the Northern Premier League’s premier division next season.

The Pics were relegated from National League North last season – and had hoped to be admitted to the Southern League Premier Central division.

Had that happened, they would have been grouped with a number of Midlands sides.

Now, however, they will play Northern Premier League football – with only a handful of sides in close proximity.

Although they will have two derby clashes with newly-promoted Hednesford Town, and games with Midlands sides Ilkeston Town and Leek Town, they face a number of long away trips.

Also in the same league as Rushall will be several north-east sides, including Stockton, Morpeth, and Hebburn – along with north-west teams Lancaster City and Workington.

Last month, Rushall vice-chaiman, Nick Allen, posted: “Shocked, but nothing surprises you in football.

“We’ve always had to be resilient and been shunted before, but missing out on a plethora of Midland derbies hardly seems fair and appropriate.

“We’ll gather our thoughts on this one.”

However, this week Rushall made it clear that they were not going to be successful with their request to be moved to a division better suited to them geographically.

A social media post from the Pics said: “We can confirm that our appeal against our placement in the Northern Premier League premier division has been unsuccessful.

“Disappointed, but not surprised.

“Our work continues in our new league. Thanks for your support, we’re going to need it all for our journeys ahead.”
