RICHARD Sneekes lamented that Rushall Olympic were ‘back to square one’ but insisted his squad can drag themselves clear of relegation trouble.
The Pics went down 4-0 to promotion-chasing Chester, shipping three goals in the second-half as they slipped to second-bottom, with a five-point gap to safety.
Tom Peers settled the hosts’ nerves with a hotly-disputed penalty in the 13th minute.
Three goals in the final quarter from Harrison Burke, Peers and Kurt Willoughby sent Chester top of the table.
Rushall chief Sneekes said: “They’re a very good side. They’re attacking play was good. Their full-backs pushed on. They made it difficult for us. They were miles the better side.
“We didn’t play with conviction. When we come up against good passing sides, it’s as if we lose faith in our own ability.
“I’m not making excuses. We didn’t deserve anything from the game. We didn’t create that much.
“We were all right for 15-20 minutes in the second half. But I can’t recall their keeper having to do a great deal.
“We’re making mistakes that ultimately make it an uphill battle to stay in the division.
“It’s been our Achilles Heel all season. Not just since I’ve taken over.
“It puts much more pressure on next week’s game.
“We’ve still got 13 games to go. We’re back to square one. We’ve done it before. We’ve got to keep the faith. These players have got us out of the bottom four. We weren’t there last week.
“Our home games are vital and we have to pick up some points away from home.”
