TAMWORTH boss Andy Peaks admitted ‘it’s time we got some points on the board’ ahead of Tuesday’s clash with newly-promoted Truro City at The Lamb.
Peaks’ side suffered their second National League defeat of the season at Southend United on Saturday.
And they find themselves one of a number of teams on zero points.
But Peaks wants to use the ‘fortress’ mentality of playing at home to get the Lambs’ season up and running.
Southend went ahead after just 11 minutes when Charley Kendall met Nathan Ralph’s cross with a near-post header into the far corner.
Ten minutes from the end Harry Boyes’ cross was converted by fellow wing-back Gus Scott-Morriss.
Tom Hopper almost made it three but was denied by a superb save from Tamworth keeper Jas Singh.
Peaks told Tamworth’s X account: “I was frustrated at Southend – because I think we’re in the game for a long periods.
“We had an opportunity to take the lead, which we didn’t take, then conceded straight after. I think then for long periods, we managed the game really well.
“They didn’t run away with it. I felt the shape of the team was really good. And we limited their opportunities, and the room.
“But it didn’t happen for us and I was obviously disappointed to come away with nothing. Nothing really dropped us particularly and the second goals was an absolute killer.
“We’ve had two games, so we need to get some ports on the board. We’ve got to start again on Tuesday, but it’ll be tough. We’ve got to brush ourselves down.
“As we said last year, we need to make our place a bit of a fortress because we know it’s difficult going to a lot of these away games.”
