GEORGE Morrison says Tamworth will ‘always have a place’ in his heart after helping the Lambs in sight of a National League play-off place.
On-loan Morrison has been recalled by Fleetwood Town – and his final game was Saturday’s 2-0 win over Eastleigh.
Goals from Hadyn Hollis and Tom McGlinchey gave the Lambs another win – and they remain three points off the top seven.
Eastleigh were reduced to 10 men before the interval when Scott Quigley was shown a straight red card for violent conduct after kicking out at Dan Creaney.
But Morrison received a standing ovation when he was subbed – in what was an emotional send-off for the midfielder.
Morrison told the club’s official YouTube channel: “It’s hard to describe it, because since I’ve come here,I’ve just been made so welcome by fans, staff and the players.
“This club will always hold a special place in my heart.
“After back to back promotions, we’ve been massively over-achieving in this league, but it also puts them in a position now where they can stay in this league for a good few years for the next stage of their development.

“But I can’t thank Andy Peaks and the staff enough for giving me a platform to build on, to showcase what I can do. So I’m really grateful for this stage of my football career, and one I’ll always remember.”
Tamworth went close to taking a first-half lead when Eastleigh goalkeeper Joe McDonnell foiled Beck-Ray Enoru in a one-on-one – and Tom McGlinchey fired his follow-up over the crossbar.
Hollis broke the deadlock for Tamworth, forcing the ball home from close range in the 53rd minute following Tom Tonks’ long throw-in
McGlinchey added a second seven minutes later after racing on to Creaney’s excellent through ball.
