TAMWORTH’S eight-match unbeaten league run came to an end at relegation-threatened Maidenhead.
Andy Peaks’ side never recovered from going two goals down – and a Ben Milnes penalty was not enough.
Shawn McCoulsky opened the scoring for the hosts midway through the first half as he slotted Brendan Kiernan’s assist home at the near post for his 11th league goal of the season.
Former Harrogate and Walsall winger Kiernan doubled their advantage – seven minutes after the break – as he got the last touch following some good work from McCoulsky down the left.
Milnes reduced the deficit for Tamworth with a powerful penalty 12 minutes from time after Callum Cockerill-Mollett was brought down.
But Maidenhead restored their lead as substitute Josh Johnson fired in his first goal for the Berkshire side at the death to seal maximum points.
The match also marked the final loan game for Walsall’s Ronan Maher.

He told the club’s official X channel: “I’d have liked a win to have a good send off – but I’ve had an amazing experience here.
“I’ll always remember the FA Cup tie at Burton Albion.
“It’s been brilliant here, I got on with everyone straight away. I can only thanks Peaksy for putting his trust in me.
“I was a bit sad when it came to an end, I went over to say goodbye to the travelling fans. I just want to say thank-you to the club.”
