LIAM Livingstone has been named as Birmingham Phoenix Men’s captain for The Hundred in 2025.

All-rounder Livingstone has played for Phoenix in all four editions of The Hundred, and is their leading run-scorer with 755 runs – while his 52 sixes is the most by any player in the competition’s history.

He will work closely with Head Coach Daniel Vettori.

The England international replaces Moeen Ali, who has decided not to appear in the 2025 competition ahead of his retirement from cricket.

Under Moeen’s stewardship, the Edgbaston-based side came second in 2021 and reached the Eliminator in 2024.

Moeen Ali will not be part of The Hundred this year

Phoenix have also confirmed that Australian superstar all-rounder Ellyse Perry will continue to captain the women’s team.

Livingstone told The Hundred’s official website: “I’m absolutely delighted to be named as Birmingham Phoenix captain this year. Edgbaston has been my home ground from the start of The Hundred and the support we’ve received over the first four years has been fantastic. Moeen has done a brilliant job so far and I hope to carry on where he left off to take this team forward.

“The squad is looking in great shape with a mixture of local lads in Jacob Bethell and Dan Mousley as well as international quality with Ben Duckett and the New Zealand pace attack.

“We’ll be doing all we can to bring that trophy home to Birmingham for the first time this summer and entertain our fans with some exciting cricket.”
