THE huge, sell-out Potteries punch-up tomorrow (Saturday) – headlined by Stoke sporting hero Nathan Heaney – has just got even bigger.
Marauding featherweight Gully Powar has now been added to the stacked card at Stoke’s Kings Hall.
The announcement comes only days after the Wolverhampton talent re-signed with the promotional group that has guided his career, BCB.
On the sell-out show – a noisy boxing carnival courtesy of former British middleweight champ Heaney’s huge fanbase, Powar ticks over with a four rounder.
He faces Sheffield journeyman Paul Scaife, an opponent who’ll enjoy weight advantage over Powar, but nothing else. Gully, aged 22, is zeroing in on a British title fight.
Trainer Richard Carter said: “Gully is always ready. We just need that win to progress towards that British title.”
It is Powar’s first outing since his superb performance against world ranked Mexican puncher Brandon Mejia Mosqueda in June.
Fighting in the Riyadh based WBC Grand Prix tournament, the 22-year-old tasted defeat for the first time in 13 outings, but gave Mosqueda the toughest fight of his career.

Gully said: “It’s been a great year, fighting at world level in Riyadh and showcasing my skills globally. We’ll end the year with some big title fight news!”
Of the new contract with BCB, coach Carter said: “Gully is glad to re-sign with BCB. He’s had a great three years under their management, and now it’s the second chapter of his career. He will be looking to fight for the British featherweight title in the not-too-distant future, or any other major titles.”
