BIRMINGHAM’s scheduled Bank Holiday Monday (May 26) home clash with King’s Lynn has been called off – but their 12 noon away trip to Leicester goes ahead as planned.
An early decision has been made to postpone the planned Perry Barr fixture to minimise inconvenience for all with heavy rain set to hit the region from 8pm onwards.
CEO Nigel Tolley said: “Ourselves at the club, along with Premiership CEO Phil Morris, have been in discussions because the forecast has not been looking great at all.
“The worst of it looks set to hit at 8pm and then it’s in for the night.
“So especially with that being the meeting that was due to be on TNT Sports, we’ve made the early decision to call our home meeting off to minimise inconvenience.”
The Curtis Sport Brummies will still be in action on Monday though for a 12 noon start at Leicester in a fixture bought forward three days at short notice due to rearrangements in Poland later in the week.
Tolley said: “We nearly pulled off an upset in the Knockout Cup when we went to Leicester at the start of the season and the Brummies riders have already shown a liking for that place.
“But we expect the home riders to be a lot more dialled in at this stage and we know they’ll be on a high after winning at Ipswich on Thursday.
“We’ll go there and give it our best and what will be will be.”
Birmingham bosses have opted to run rider replacement for the absent Michael Jepsen Jensen.
