TAMWORTH boss Andy Peaks admitted it was a ‘wound’ to let a one-goal lead slip in the stoppage time against Rochdale on Tuesday.
The Lambs had been leading since just before the break when Rochdale keeper Sam Waller punched Tom Tonks’ corner into his own net.
Tamworth had been heading for a much-needed win when Kairo Mitchell denied Peaks’ side to earn a 1-1 draw.
Peaks knew it was a blow to his team, but also felt it was a point gained against a former EFL side.
Tamworth are now 15th in the table, and still eight points clear of the danger zone ahead of Saturday’s trip to bottom-placed side Ebbsfleet.
The Lambs boss told the club’s official YouTube channel: “When you’re that close to winning and getting three points, it’s a real wound to concede so late on.
“But I’m realistic enough to look at the bigger picture. I think that’s definitely a point gained. They played some good stuff, and caused a lot of problems.

“Our performance was very dogged. They hurt us in a lot of areas. But it was a weird one, because we also created a lot of chance ourselves.
“It was a scrappy goal for us. Their keeper had made some good saves, and he’ll be disappointed with that one.
“But we’re believers. If we keep putting it the box and asking questions, things will happen. Nothing really dropped for us until then – but the more times we get it in there, the more chances we have of that happening.”

Waller had kept Tamworth at bay heading into half-time, producing fine saves to deny Dan Creaney twice and Nathan Tshikuna.
But he gifted the Lambs the lead two minutes before the interval, under pressure from Tonks’ corner kick/.
Lambs keeper Jas Singh kept out efforts from Leon Ayinde, Aidan Barlow and Ian Henderson, who also had an effort cleared off the line.
But, like his opposite number Waller, Singh was at fault as he spilled Kyron Gordon’s low shot into the path of Mitchell and he turned in from close range in added time to leave Rochdale six points off seventh-placed Altrincham with two games in hand.
