TAMWORTH boss Andy Peaks says his players ‘should be proud of themselves’ after lifting the Lambs to their highest ever National League position.
Satrurday’s 1-0 win over Yeovil Town put Tamworth seventh in the table – and in the play-off spots 10 games in.
Kennedy Digie scored the only goal of the game at The Lambs to round off an impressive week for Peaks’ side – with back to back wins and victory against Everton’s Under21s in the National League Cup.
The game had looked on course to be heading for a goalless draw before Digie delivered the breakthrough with just 15 minutes left.
Yeovil were unable to deal with Ben Milnes’ corner, and defender Digie was able to bundle the ball into the net.
Back-to-back wins for Tamworth take them up to seventh in the division, with Yeovil slipping to 17th.
But Peaks said this was a time for everyone at the club to keep their feet on the ground – with a challenging home game against Wealdstone coming up on Wednesday.
The Lambs boss told the club’s official YouTube channel: “I think the lads can be proud of themselves for what we’ve achieved so far.
“We want to get better and better so if we’ve set a record, that’s good.
“It’s been a great week for us with two league wins and the National League Cup.
“But we’ll keep our feet on the ground, we’ve got a tough game against Wealdstone on Wednesday night and we know they’ve made some good signings this season.
“It’s nice for the fans to be excited and I think anyone who saw us on Saturday will think we gave a good account of ourselves.
“We had a good quality bench and all the subs came on and played their part.”
