TAMWORTH boss Andy Peaks felt a refereeing decision cost them victory against Southend United at The Lamb.
Kennedy Digie put Peaks’ side ahead in the eighth minute, scoring from close range after Callum Cockerill-Mollett put Nathan Tshikuna’s free-kick into his path.
But play-off challengers Southend levelled eight minutes into the second half through Gus Scott-Morriss’ 14th goal of the season.
Tamworth thought they had regained the lead when Cockerill-Mollett had the ball in the net, but it was ruled out by an assistant’s flag.
Peaks was happy with the point, but felt they could have had even more.
The Lambs boss told the club’s official YouTube channel: ““I was quite pleased with most of it. It was always going to be tough. They’re a good team.
“And I think we’ve matched them for large periods. It was a little bit like a basketball match at times in the second half. But overall, it’s another point but we could’ve won it.

“I think we were unlucky with a goal that got disallowed, because I’ve watched it back and I don’t think it was a foul on the goalkeeper, so that’s gone against us.
“But we want to be positive, we want to build on this and pick points up here.
“At half-time, I said not to sit back, not to invite them on, to try and play on the front foot, try and get a second goal to make it more difficult for them.
“We knew they were going to opportunities but I was disappointed for the goal they scored. Because I think we should have done better, if I’m being honest. But the players are learning all the time. There’s going to be mistakes made.
“They put us under some pressure, and they had some half chances. But we competed with a good team.”
Tamworth now host another ex-EFL club, Rochdale, at The Lamb on Tuesday night.
Peaks added: “The ones at the top are going for the play-offs, we always knew that about this league. But we’re on 40 points, which is a great effort.
“Now we have to rally round for the last 13 games. Pick some more points that turn some of these draws into wins, which will make it then a little bit easier for us all.
“We played Southend on Saturday, it’ll be the same on Tuesday. Rochdale want to be in the play-offs. Of course they do. But let’s make it horrible for the opposition. Let’s make this our fortress and climb that table.”
