TAMWORTH boss Andy Peaks admits that this weekend is not the best time to be facing Southend United.
The Lambs play host to the Essex side on Saturday as they bid to pass the 40-point mark in the National League.
But the Shrimpers have only lost one of their last six league games and are staging a late push for the play-offs as they aim to return to the EFL.
Peaks said he was disappointed with Tamworth’s overall display as they went down 2-1 at Yeovil in midweek.
And while he is happy to return to home territory this weekend, he is wary of Kevin Maher’s side.
Tamworth have not won in four games – but still picked up two crucial points during that run.
Peaks told the Lambs’ official YouTube channel: “We know, we’ve got to start picking some points up. We need a couple of wins at home. We’ve got Saturday and Tuesday, two home games.
“But we’ve got to look at the first one, Southend. They’re going really, really well now, so it’s not a great time to play them.
“I’m looking for reaction, because we’ve been good, and we weren’t at Yeovil.
“I never go overboard at the end of the day, but I was disappointed on Tuesday.
“But we’ve got another opportunity on Saturday. That’s the beauty about football, we trained on Thursday, and we’ll go again.”
