IT has been a very busy week for Black Country Boxing Promotions, with no less than four new signings.
And the most exciting slice of the brisk business is amateur Callum Seedhouse, who has joined the BCB fold.
The 19-year-old super-feather will make his debut on May 23 at the Hangar Venue, Wolverhampton.
A butcher by day, Seedhouse believes he can go all the way, make mincemeat of the opposition and put the ham in cHAMpion, if you’ll excuse the butcher puns.
“I think I can become a world champion,” the Great Wyrley lad said. “You have to believe you’re going to be world champion, otherwise there’s no point in taking part.
Seedhouse has the amateur credentials to make an impact, with the list of honours including national titles at junior and youth level, a youth tri-nations gold, four boxcup victories and six Midlands titles.
He began his 68 fight career at Great Wyrley ABC, where he had 35 bouts, then switched to Wodensborough in Wednesbury, then moved to Wolverhampton gym last summer in preparation for pro boxing.
Seedhouse has turned over early and before establishing himself at top level in the senior ranks.
He said: “After winning the national title and tri-nations, I wanted to go to the Europeans, but they didn’t select me. I thought it was the right time to go pro.
“I know it’s a different game, but when you’ve got the grounding it’s not like jumping in headfirst.
“My main attributes are my speed – I don’t think they’ll handle my speed – and ring IQ. I think I’ve got the power, but we’ll see, won’t we.
“I can’t wait. I haven’t boxed for nine months and when you’ve been boxing every other week, nine months is a long time.”
The three other BCB new faces will also take their bow on the May 23 Hangar show.
Wolverhampton’s Jimmy Harty, a 24-year-old super-bantam, is a graduate of the BCB academy.
Of Ebonie Cotton, aged 30 and from Rowley Regis, a BCB spokesman said: “A huge personality who trains at our gym in Wednesbury, Ebonie is looking to take the bantamweight division by storm.”
Bantamweight Robbie Warner will have the farthest to travel for his debut. He hails from Stratford-upon-Avon.
