BIRMINGHAM take on defending league champions Belle Vue at Perry Barr on Monday (July 28, 7:30pm).
The Curtis Sport Brummies have already beaten the Aces in the Second City this year with a battling 47-43 triumph at the beginning of June. The men from Manchester find themselves sitting second in the ROWE Motor Oil Premiership standings and on the brink of play-off qualification.
And with his own side suffering two disappointing defeats last week, Birmingham boss Chris Adams hopes his riders can respond with a spirited display.
“We’ve got seven meetings left, four of which are at home, and we just want to pick up as many points as we can,” Adams said.
“We’ve shown that we can win meetings in this league – we just need things to go our way on the night.
“Belle Vue are one of those teams who things did go right against earlier in the season.
“I’m sure more people will be backing the opposition to win this one but we don’t mind the pressure being with them and hopefully we can all have a good night collectively and pull off what would be classed as another upset.
“Unfortunately the season hasn’t gone to plan and as well as we’d have hoped so far.
“We will undoubtedly try our best as always to give the fans something to cheer about – Birmingham’s time is sadly coming to an end now so regardless of the outcome, let’s all come together, enjoy the speedway and get behind the team.”
Birmingham are at full strength for the clash whilst Belle Vue arrive with top Grand Prix stars Brady Kurtz and Dan Bewley.
There will also be second half Midland Development League action between Wolves and the Birmingham Ductair Bulls.
