BIRMINGHAM boss Chris Adams said he was disappointed by the way his side fell away in the second half of their defeat at King’s Lynn on Thursday.
The Curtis Sport Brummies went down 53-37 at the Adrian Flux Arena, having been just two points behind after Heat 7.
It was an eighth successive ROWE Motor Oil Premiership defeat for the Birmingham team.
They had been forced into changes with Jonas Jeppesen and Ben Barker ruled out by illness and injury respectively, and it was the Stars who proved the better all-round unit on the night.
Adams also had praise for Rising Star Sam Hagon after a battling display saw him score 8+1, matching his total from a recent away match at Sheffield.
He said: “We kept them on their toes in the first half of the meeting, and I thought we were going to push them a bit further than what we did.
“But once we got to Heat 9 we had a few unlucky races and rather ran out of steam, and they took heat advantages all the way to Heat 14, so they were stronger than us there and they thoroughly deserved their win.
“We tried our best with a patched-up team, and it’s just a shame because we’ve been turning up to all these meetings and we’ve never had seven riders all firing on the same day. It’s always two or three here and two or three there, and you’re always going to find it hard when they’re not all firing.
“Sam really seems to like these bigger tracks. He thoroughly deserved Heat 15, he did his best in that and got the result with us getting a heat advantage.
“I don’t quite know what happened to Tobi (Tobiasz Musielak) tonight. He was struggling all night with set-ups, he couldn’t find anything that was working, and if your No.1 is struggling you’re going to be struggling to win meetings.”
