SOLIHULL MOORS boss Matt Taylor praised his side’s character after coming back to force a draw against Sutton United on Tuesday.
Both goals came in the early stages – Eduino Vaz putting Sutton ahead after seven minutes.
But Jack Stevens headed Moors level 11 minutes later.
Stevens was then denied a second by keeper Jack Sims while, at the other end, Lewis Simper brought a fine stop from on-loan Southampton goalkeeper Ollie Wright.
Wright also did well to keep out an effort from Finley Barbrook – and Simper shot wide as neither side could find a winner.
Taylor told the club’s official YouTube channel: “What the players did tonight was they worked extremely hard for each other.
“At times, we rode our luck, but we had to deal with pressure from Sutton, because they’ve got really good players. They’ve moved the ball really well.
“Having said that, I was pleased with the character the players showed because we went a goal down, and we’ve been in that position, a few times this season.
“But we got back, you know, into the game within minutes, and we had some really good chances in the second half, some big moments, but we didn’t take them, so a point was probably,
“What I will say and commend the players on is they did the basics really well. They fought, they harried, and they got a well deserved point.
“But the referee gave us nothing, and it just seems maybe that’s a bit of a theme at the moment. I’m not sure. But there are opportunities where even at the end of the game, Brad gets fouled, “Our boys were in there tired, and I haven’t seen that as much as I would like, so the minimum requirement is maximum effort, now until the end of the season.”
