WARWICKSHIRE will be hoping to make it three wins out of three at Rugby School this week – after a second five-wicket haul from Tazeem Ali.
The Bears completed a comprehensive Metro Bank One-Day Cup victory over Kent Spitfires on Wednesday – and now host Middlesex on Friday.
Warwickshire won by 79 runs after totalling an impressive 283 for nine.
Openers Rob Yates (46) and Ed Barnard (60) put on 97 for the first wicket and that provided the platform for victory.
But the middle order provided solid support with Kai Smith making a half century (58), backed by Vansh Jani with another valuable innings (42).
Kent responded with half-centuries from Jaydn Denly (52) and Harry Finch (50) – with Ekansh Singh adding 42.
But with spinner Ali removing Denly – and then claiming the wickets of Jack Leaning, Grant Stewart, Matt Parkinson and Michael Cohen, the game swung Warwickshire’s way.
Ali finished with figures of five for 54 – to add to his five for 43 against Northamptonshire on Sunday.
Kai Smith told the Bears’ X account that Warwickshire were beginning to feel like Rugby School s a home from home.
He said: “I love playing at Rugby. It’s great to see all the fans and the support we have – and what a lovely place to come and play cricket.
“We’ll come back on Friday ready to make it three wins out of three.”
