CITY of Birmingham Rockets are set to mark the most significant moment for basketball in the city for over two decades.
Rockets will – this Saturday – compete in the BCB Trophy Final against Yorkshire Dragons at Harvey Hadden Sport Village in Nottingham.
It is a chance to bring a major piece of silverware to the Second City.
And not since the heyday of the legendary Birmingham Bullets, who folded in 2006 after winning multiple British Basketball League (BBL) titles in the 1990s, has a team from the city stood on the edge of such national glory.
So, for a region with a deep-rooted basketball heritage, this final represents a ‘ebirth of elite-level success.
Rockets CEO, Robert Palmer said: “It’s going to be such a special day for the Birmingham Rockets family.
“Reaching the British Championship Basketball Trophy Final is a milestone we’ve all worked so hard for, and it truly reflects the heart and soul our players and coaches have poured into this season.

The City of Birmingham Rockets represent the West Midlands’ premier basketball club – community-driven – that bridges the gap between elite professional competition and a massive grassroots youth programme.
As the spiritual successor to the city’s rich basketball heritage, the Rockets emphasise they are dedicated to restoring Birmingham to the summit of British basketball while providing a high-performance pathway for local talent.
The club’s men’s team compete in British Championship Basketball (BCB), the second tier of British basketball outside of the franchised Super League Basketball (SLB).
