THIS WEEK Martyn takes a look back on a weekend which saw Rockets stretch their incredible winning run with two more victories. The team will head to Yorkshire Dragons on Saturday looking for a seventh straight win as they strengthen their place among the play-off candidates. LIFE’S just getting better and better for the Rockets right now.
Last weekend’s double header victories made it six wins out of six and we’re well placed for the the end of season play-offs now.
First, we beat Bristol Hurricanes on Saturday, and followed that up with second win over Hemel Storm in the space of eight days.
All of which sets us up nicely for this weekend’s visit to Yorkshire Dragons – a team we’ll be meeting in the BCB Trophy final next month.

So, although we’ve already played them this season, this will be more of a dress rehearsal for that game – where we’ll be looking to claim a trophy.
But we’re flying at the moment and have moved to fourth place in the table.
The start of the Bristol game was actually a bit rocky in for us. They they came out with a game plan and were executing it really well.
We just couldn’t find anything to stifle them at the beginning. But, after that, we found a point of weakness, and then attacked that.
But they tired near the end and we ended up running away with the game.
It was a different story from the start of the Hemel game though, it was a lot better than the previous night.
We were in control more or less from the beginning and went from strength to strength. We understood our opponent and their capabilities and shut down what we could nice and early.

It just worked well for us. I’d say it was a very different game to the previous week. We knew what we were going to get. So we prepared for that – and with that preparation, we made sure that we were able to disrupt anything that they wanted to do.
I don’t think they, at any point in the game, led.
It’s great for our fans, but I’d still like more people to come out and watch us.
That’s the aim of the game. We can fill those stands with the way we’re playing. We’re a decent team. We’re a nice bunch of guys that integrate with the fans.
We communicate with them and it’s a good relationship. And I feel like we can get more people to the games because we’re playing good basketball.
The level’s really good. The atmosphere at game nights is great.
The entertainment, the refreshments, everything about it is a good night out for anyone. So, I recommend anyone to come out and come watch us play.

We’re a successful Birmingham team that’s growing all the time and we’re going from strength to strength. It’s good to be part of it.
Let’s mention a couple of stand out displays from the weekend. Zach Powell impressed against Bristol while Orlan Jackman was on form in the Hemel game.
I feel like guys are doing what’s required of them, what is expected of them week in, week out, and the consistency is up to us now.
We’ve got a couple of games in hand so we can solidify that position and aim for a really good play-off position – and hopefully get a home seed. It’s looking all positive.
